Dry January My Behind!
Not with these two “Outer Space Wines”

January is anything BUT dry in Outer Space in more ways than one. The rain drops keep falling on my hed-onistic wines…allow me to w(h)et your appetite with these two awesome wines…the great wines just keep stormin’ in! New material in the second show. Try the veal.

In the next 60 seconds I’m going to convince you to bring two wines into your home and, if you’re within spittin’ distance of Outer Space, to come by and try them this Friday and Saturday. Let’s go!

Cattleya Pinot Noir "Cuvee Number One"

Cattleya not only make my California Top Ten Pinot Noir Producers list, it consistently makes my bigger/bolder Pinot Noir customers very happy. That’s the case with the Cattleya Pinot Noir “Cuvee Number One” Russian River Valley 2021 ($65/bottle). Get dark and ripe red cherries, slightly liqueur-ish, blackberries, cinnamon & nutmeg and red rose/dried orange zest/black tea aromas throughout. Over half new French oak aged is used because the fruit was so perfectly ripe, resulting in 14.3% alcohol. 475 cases made. I’ve turned a handful of customers onto this wine already. I have some for you. More info and buy.

The Peirson Meyer “Maquette” Napa Valley 2018 ($80/bottle) is 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc from a single vineyard on the northern end of Napa Valley. A strong introduction of oak (75% new French) swiftly melds with riipe summer berry basket, cherry compote, earthy truffle, black olive and cedar. Suave, persistent tannins and a multi-layered finish help make this a top-of-the-line Napa red blend, one that compares favorably to its peers fetching three figures. Only 90 cases made. More info and buy.

10% off case (12 bottle) puchase, mixed or the same.
Outer Space ships to most states UPS Ground for $35/case. Restrictions apply.

PEIRSON MEYER “Maquette” Napa Valley 2018 will be opened WHEN THE FIRST READER COMES IN AND SAYS, “LET’S TRY IT DAN!”
When that happens, I’ll post a picture on
Instagram. Who’s it gonna be?

Lastly, this Thursday is the launch of RIESLING FAN CLUB!
Bring a bottle of Riesling, share it with all, try the rest. You never know but I suspect between 8 and 10 Rieslings will be here for tasting. DETAILS.
Riesling Fan Club will be here the second Thursday of the month in 2023.

Did you know?
Yeah, we’re getting a lot of rain. More, over an extended period of time than I can ever remember. When Napa floods, the question comes up…are the vines going to be OK?
The general answer is yes, the vines are dormant and they’ll be fine. This will probably be true for 90-some% of the vines. But really young vines on clay heavy soil? Could be some problems there. If this general flooding rolls into February there may be more to worry about.
I’m more interested in the drought-busting potential of all these storms lined up like planes departing LaGuardia. One wet winter doesn’t wipe out many years of drought, but it’s sure better than the alternative. Lakes, reservoirs and snowpacks are rejoicing the short-term affects. So am I.
