Such pretty aromas on the Eden Rift Pinot Noir “Valliant.” Dried red rose petals and violets, plum puree, wild cherries and talc. Obviously Pinot Noir just by the smell. Intense flavors, lighter body, bright acidity, great balance of fruit, spice and savory earth. Particularly impressive is how the Pinot seemingly gains flavor and texture after a couple of seconds in the mouth. (“Expansive,” we say.) I’m new to the wines of Eden Rift and quickly learning they are making some of the best, most honest, and fairly priced Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in California.
