An exceptional Napa Valley Cabernet, the Au Revoir “Veeder Ridge Vineyard” 2019 comes from south-facing hillside vineyards planted in the mid 1980s by George Rubissow (source of Rubissow Sargent Cabernet back then). Under new ownership and caretaking, the vineyard is coming back to life with a systematic replant currently “in the works.”
Gum-coating fine tannins join very ripe, perfectly so, blackberry fruits, dark chocolate, espresso, black licorice, dry herbs and soy-soaked beefsteak. Big-time aroma, rich and structured in the mouth, long and sweet/savory on the finish, this Cab to me has it all. In a sea of three figure bottles of Napa Cab, the Au Revoir takes no back seats. It is a big-time bargain at $95.
