Bold, very ripe raspberries, blueberries and strawberries with backup sensations of lavender, anise, black pepper and clove are the smells and flavors found in the Gamba Zinfandel Family Ranches. Known for the “over the top” style of Zinfandel, “Family Ranches” is turned down a couple of notches. Still “big” by every measure, just not as big as the other Gambas. Silky tannins, medium acidity and steering clear of over-ripe or sweet sensations, I think this Zin is spot-on. Multiple small Zinfandel vineyards are sourced for this bottling.
