A Pinot with some “meat on its bones,” Cuvaison “Mariafeld” is darker, richer and heartier than most. While this often results in harsh tannins and less Pinot-ness, not the case here. The dark cherry, blueberry, nutmeg and spiced tea smells and flavors are packed in there. With that, supple tannins, medium acidity and a clean, fruit-driven personality make this an absolute joy to drink. *This wine is only available directly from Cuvaison Winery.

More Information

The Cuvaison Pinot Noir “Mariafeld” is only available directly from the winery. Contact them, or better yet, arrange a visit and tasting at the winery. It’s a great visit. I wouldn’t quite call it “undiscovered,” but it is under-used for the quality of wine, venue and hospitality you get there. I’ve been a big fan of winemaker Steven Rogstad for years. The wines he’s making for Cuvaison, and their sister vineyard and winery Brandlin, are really good and getting better.
