Bordeaux-style blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. All from Calistoga’s “Kenefick Ranch.” First impression of sweet toasty oak (75% new French oak aged) that swiftly melds into the dense, ripe dark berry fruitiness. Cherry compote/kirsch, boysenberries, blackberries. Then earthy truffle, black olive and musky cigar. Wonderfully complex. 90 cases made.
“Maquette”: A term familiar to co-owner Alan Peirson in his work as a sculptor. “Maquette” is the name given to a small three dimensional model made for a larger scale sculpture.
