Want to taste legendary Tempranillo-based wines like Lopez de Heredias 2012 Viña Tondonia (the benchmark Rioja) and a 1970 Paternina. Want to try classic Rioja aged for 13-55 years? This is your tasting. \nWe’ll also be tasting a range of other Rioja—two whites (Viura\, Maturana Blanca)\, Grenache from 80 year old vines\, and a more modern style Rioja blend\, just for context. Additionally\, we’ll have some other back vintage Rioja available if you catch the bug! \nTasting is from 5-8\, with remarks about Rioja from the importer at 6pm. DESCRIPTION:For over a century\, the Bussaco Palace Hotel in Portugal has been quietly producing some of the country’s most fascinating wines—wines that almost no one outside the hotel ever had the chance to taste. Since 1917\, they’ve crafted just three wines each year—a white\, a red\, and a rosé—blending grapes from both Dão and Bairrada (a rebellious move in Portugal’s tightly regulated system). The red is typically a mix of Baga and Touriga Nacional\, while the white features Encruzado\, Bical\, and Maria Gomes. \nThese wines were once served exclusively in the hotel’s dining room—you couldn’t even buy a bottle to take upstairs. With their elegant\, age-worthy style and legendary scarcity\, they’ve become a cult treasure for insiders. DESCRIPTION:Taste a dozen wines from the country of Georgia\, Friday\, March 21st from 5-8pm at Outer Space. \nGeorgia has an 8000 year old winemaking tradition that has all of the elements we love when it comes to wine: unique\, indigenous grapes\, idiosyncratic winemaking methods\, and regional diversity. The country is roughly the size of New Jersey\, but has a huge mountain range (the Caucus Mountains)\, coastal influence (the Black Sea)\, and borders Turkey and is only 100 miles from Iran. Most of the wines are made in clay amphora buried underground called qvevri. DESCRIPTION:Arnot-Roberts is one of our very favorite wineries\, producing a broad range of wines all at a very high quality level. We have personally been collecting the wines for years and absolutely love them. To be able to pour a lineup of their current releases and some library wines is kind of a dream come true. \nNathan Roberts\, one of the two founders of Arnot-Roberts will be in the house this Friday pouring the following lineup of current release wines: \n\nSauvignon Blanc\, Yorkville Highlands\nChardonnay\, Watson Ranch\, Napa (side note\, I always thought this wine was a gift to collectors\, because it’s incredibly good\, but half the price of their other Chards)\nTrousseau\, North Coast\nGamay Noir\, El Dorado\nSyrah\, North Coast\n\nAlso\, as mentioned\, we’re pulling fun stuff from the cellar to round out the event. SUMMARY:Aged Chardonnay Night
DESCRIPTION:Chardonnay is a perfect example of a wine that gets really fun with a little age\, but doesn’t need to go for 30 years to develop full complexity. We generally find that Chardonnay is at its best in the 5-10 year range\, but there are lots of fun ones going much further back. \nThis Thursday\, the triumphant return of Bring-A-Bottle events. Bring a good bottle of Chardonnay from 2020 or before and come ready to taste and chat aged Chardonnay. For my part\, I’ll be bringing one of our favorite new producers: 2013 Pont Neuf ‘Le Pont Neuf’ Chardonnay. We recently got the 2022 Pont Neuf in and are in love with it\, so we can’t wait to see what a bottle with age is like. \nWe’re going to open up the cellar and have lots of really cool pre-2020 Chardonnays for sale if you don’t have one of your own to bring. And\, we’ll have some great cheeses out to complete the experience. Please try to arrive by 6 so all the wines get here at once. Cost of event is $10 and a bottle.

DESCRIPTION:Cody and Emily Rasmussen are the owners of Desire Lines\, which produces wines which we absolutely love. Cody’s day job is being an Assistant Winemaker at Bedrock Wine Co. We really appreciate and respect how much great wine comes out of Bedrock\, both under its labels\, and the labels of people who work there. It is an incredible incubator for talent\, especially for making the types of wines that we really enjoy–great sense of place\, balanced\, interesting\, delicious. We first tasted Desire Lines a couple months ago\, and their Sauvignon Blanc remains probably my favorite discovery since taking over Outer Space. Frankly\, I think the Sauvignon Blanc is an absolute revelation: the kind of wine that comes along and changes your entire perspective on a varietal\, but I digress… \nJoin us at the shop along with the Desire Lines team to taste through their lineup. From delicious Riesling(S!)\, to revelatory Sauvignon Blanc\, to Cabernets from unexpected places\, we’re going to be pouring a full compliment of their wines. Come learn directly from the owners about their brand\, their winemaking\, and their vision. It’s going to be a fun evening with absolutely delicious wines. Can’t wait to see you there.
